The municipality is administratively managed by the Kamuli Municipal Council and serves as a commercial hub for the surrounding rural areas.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>SOME HISTORY OF KAMULI TOWN, UGANDA<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Kamuli Town, located in the Eastern Region of Uganda, has a rich and diverse history. It serves as the main municipal, administrative, and commercial center of Kamuli District, which is part of the Busoga sub-region.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Kamuli\u2019s history is deeply intertwined with the Busoga Kingdom, one of Uganda\u2019s traditional kingdoms. The area has been inhabited by the Basoga people for centuries. The town\u2019s name, \u201cKamuli,\u201d is derived from the Lusoga word for \u201ca place of many trees,\u201d reflecting its lush environment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During the colonial period, Kamuli became an important administrative center under British rule. The town\u2019s strategic location made it a focal point for colonial administration and trade. Infrastructure development, such as roads and administrative buildings, began during this time, laying the foundation for the town\u2019s growth.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1319 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/kamulimc.go.ug\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/map.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1495\" height=\"843\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After Uganda gained independence in 1962, Kamuli continued to develop as a key administrative and commercial hub. The town witnessed significant growth in population and infrastructure. In 1974, Kamuli District was officially created, with Kamuli Town as its headquarters.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In recent years, Kamuli has seen further development in various sectors. The town now hosts several important institutions, including Kamuli General Hospital and Kamuli Mission Hospital. The establishment of Kamuli Sugar Limited, a major sugar factory, has also contributed to the town\u2019s economic growth.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Kamuli is notable for being the birthplace of several prominent Ugandan figures, including Rebecca Kadaga, the former Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda.
